The “ABCDEF'” diet

Ever wonder what supermodels eat?  Want to learn their tricks on how they are able to shed fat and firm up in record time!  Well supermodels like Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbel, and Linda Evangelista are all fans of the ever so popular The Ultimate New York Diet created by David Kirsch.  This diet plan is what helped Heidi get runway ready after giving birth to her second child.

A summary of the diet plan:

The No No’s

  • Dairy
  • Fruit
  • Sweets and sugary snacks
  • Starchy carbs such as bread, rice, pasta
  • Alcohol – has lots of calories that turn to fat quickly
  • Fats- except a teaspoon of olive oil or a few almonds
  • Coffee – no caffeine except for peppermint or green tea

The Permissible

  • Eat lean protein such as chicken breast, turkey, tuna
  • Eat every three hours
  • Drink at least 2 liters of water a day
  • Take cinnamon bark, green tea, and 5-HTTP supplements to speed up your metabolism, burn more fat and suppress your appetite

 The Promise:

  • Super fast weight loss-14 pounds in 2 only weeks
  • Fat loss and increased muscle tone
  • High metabolism and energy
  • Improved skin tone and mood

A typical day’s menu

Breakfast – 3 hard-boiled egg whites

Snack – small tin of tuna

Lunch – chicken breast and large green salad with fat-free dressing

Snack – vegetable soup

Dinner – salmon steak with steamed vegetables

 My take on the diet:

Sure you will lose weight and fast following this diet plan.  It is low in calories and carbs and it requires you to exercise as well so the pounds are sure to melt off.  However, it’s just too restrictive which might make it difficult to stick with.

It is not how quickly you lose weight that matters but whether if you can stick to this new way of eating for life.  Remember that you can lose weight following just about any kind of diet but the problem is that as soon as you start eating normal again you risk the chance of gaining some of the weight back.

There are so many other diets out there why put very strict restrictions on yourself.  I suggest looking for something that offers a more permanent solution for weight loss such as Bill Phillips Eating for Life.  It’s a low fat diet with an emphasis on exercise that’s more generous with the calories and carbs – both wholegrains and fruit.
