The calorie battle: Cardio vs. Strength Training

Which burns more calories to help you get rid of the pounds faster?

A 160-pound person who jogs for an hour burns close to 600 calories.  That same person engaging in weight lifting burns around 200 calories per hour.  This proves that cardio burns more calories than strength training per session; however, the total amount of calories burned afterwards is higher for strength training.  Strength training really kicks your metabolism in high gear allowing you to keep burning calories for up to 48 hours after you have finished working out.  On the other hand, metabolism increases after cardio exercise only lasts 30 to 60 minutes.
