Stop Aging?

Watermelon = the 10 best foods

By Alya Alyssa KattanJuicy and sweet watermelon, YUMMY!  What’s better than this delicious fruit on a hot sizzling summer day?  I can’t think of anything.  This tasty fruit is not only a great thirst quencher but did you know that: it reverses the signs of aging, it’s super healthy that many natural healing experts are recommending it to be stored in your medicine chest, and it is being called the “The 10 Best Foods.”  Why?  What is so great about this fruit besides its taste?

The dirty on this life saving/beautifying fruit

It’s packed with powerful antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.  Also it contains very concentrated amounts of lycopene (more lycopene than any other fresh fruit or vegetable, even tomatoes).  Lycopene is known to lower the risk of many different kinds of cancers such as prostate, lung, stomach, pancreas, colon and rectum, esophagus, oral cavity, breast, and cervix.

Nutrition Content

It’s very low in calories and has virtually no fat.  A cup of watermelon contains only 48 calories and provides 24.3% of the RDA for vitamin C, and, through its beta-carotene, 11.1% of the RDA for vitamin A.  It also contains the following: vitamins B6 and B1, potassium, magnesium, and lycopene.

Watermelon is a very good source of Vitamins A + C.

  • Vitamin A is necessary for the maintenance and repair of skin tissue.  A serious lack or excess intake can cause dry, and rough skin.  It also fights against cancer plus does many other things.
  • Vitamin C helps turn back the clock and prevents heart disease. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that people who ate foods rich in vitamin C had fewer wrinkles than those whose diets contained only small amounts of the vitamin. This is because it helps form collagen which smooths fine lines and wrinkles, repairs and firms the skin.  The key seems to be its ability to fight free radicals.
