Slimming Hummus

By Alya Alyssa Kattan

If you’re in the mood for a little snack, treat yourself to some hummus.  It’s low in fat and calories, eat it without feeling an ounce of guilt! It is an excellent source of protein so it’s perfect as a vegetarian alternative to red meat.  Use it as a spread instead of mayo on your favorite sandwich or dip your favorite vegetables, breads or crackers in it.

So the next time you’re entertaining guests or just sitting around watching TV and want a quick snack, remember humus.  I have included a delicious easy to make recipe from my favorite cooking website-all recipes.  Enjoy!

Delicious Hummus

Servings: 20

  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 (19 ounce) can garbanzo beans, reserve ½ c of the liquid
  • 4 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons tahini
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Cumin to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  1. In a blender, chop the garlic.
  2. Add the following ingredients in the blender-garbanzo beans, lemon juice, tahini,  and salt.  Blend until creamy and well mixed.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a serving bowl. Sprinkle with cumin and drizzle it with olive oil.
