Fight Acne & Wrinkles!

If you want clear, younger looking skin, eat more EFAs!  How does it make us more gorgeous?

Because essential fatty acids (EFAs) such as omega-3 reduces inflammation in the body by inhibiting certain molecules.   Inflammation can cause acne and wrinkles because it triggers the cells to clog pores says dermatologist Nicholas Perricone.  Fish is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids.  Which fish contain the most EFAs? Salmon, mackerel, albacore tuna, and trout.  If you don’t like fish, EFAs are also found in flaxseed, walnuts, almonds, and sunflower seeds.

How to get more EFAs in your diet? Eat tuna-fish sandwiches, instead of a regular hamburger try a salmon burger, sprinkle ground flaxseed in your cereal or oatmeal and add it in your smoothies, and put sliced almonds in your cereal.

    Would taking cod liver oil supplements daily have the same effect?

    Yes cod liver oil supplements are rich in omega-3 fatty acids however you need to be careful when taking them. They provide very high amounts of Vit. A & D which can be dangerous when taken in large amounts. These vitamins are essential but too much vitamin A can cause birth defects, so amounts should be limited for women of childbearing age. Also too much vitamin A can interfere with bone growth and make the bones prone to fractures. Vitamin D is also dangerous in large amounts, and overdosing can be toxic.
    Women of childbearing age should not exceed 10,000 IU of vitamin A. You have to check the nutrition label on the bottle to see how much vit. A IU it contains plus take into consideration your diet and if you take a multi-vit. also see how much vit. A it contains.

    Also the supplement can interact with any medication you might be taking. Before taking cod liver oil supplements, research their potential side effects and consult with your doctor. Hope this helps!
