Gum Makes You Smarter?

14 Dec

By Alya Alyssa Kattan

Hi lovely people!  Have you heard the latest news that chewing gum boosts exams scores!

In a recent study, students who chewed gum for 5 minutes before starting a test scored higher on their exams than non-chewers!  However, this mental boost only lasts for 15-20 minutes.

So, should you chew gum throughout a test to stay sharp? According to the study’s authors, this plan would backfire. Students who chewed during tests actually performed worse as the act of chewing used up some of their brain’s resources. A mental boost only appeared after students stopped chewing.

I love chewing gum!  I am all for this.

Yes I believe your correct; I can’t chew and read at the same time :)! Supposdley if you chew it for 5 minutes before starting an exam it can improve your exam scores. And the opposite is true for students who chewed during tests actually performed worse as the act of chewing used up some of their brain’s resources.
